It is a long-standing tradition for military forces, wherever they are in the world, to form and maintain a collective set of orders pertaining to its unique operatio n. Our Force is indeed no different, and as such, we have compiled our own set of orders that reflect our uniq ue place in the world as a Virtual military. These orders should be read and regularly reviewed by all personnel regardless of their position or their length of service. It is imperative to the successful operation of the Force that these orders are implemented with fairness and diligence. Above all, these orders should be read with our strategic goals in mind, recognising that we are here to: a. Have fun; and b. Provide a realistic military experience; and c. Learn new things Original edition dated at WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND the day of 22. Hi, I am really struggling to install Linux on a brand new Acer Aspire 5750G. I have tried with Ubuntu 10.10, 11.04, 11.10 (32bit and 64bit) and with Mint 12 32bit - both from CD and USB (built with Unetbootin). I always get an error message that sounds more or less like this: udevd[113]: '/sbin/modprobe -bv pci:V000010DEd00000DEAsv00001025sd00000505bc03sc00 i00' [201] terminated bi signal 9 (Killed) Since I've read that nvidia optimus may be the reason of the troubles, I tried to disable the nvidia graphic card in order to use only the integrated graphic card (choosing 'integrated' instead of 'switchable' in the bios) but it didn't help much. It seems that people have several troubles with this 5750G, but at least they installed Linux. I can't even find the way to install it! Does anyone have any suggestion? Hi I'm new with Linux and i was just wondering if some one can help me get the drivers working the drivers iv noticed that arnt working is the network card and the sound card in using backtrack 5 R2 and my laptop is the acer aspire 5750 thanks. As a result I cannot activate and use the wi-fi. Research I am almost-fully aware of this extensive post on, but installation is not the point. However, I have followed the uninstall/install sequence: sudo apt-get purge bcmwl-kernel-source sudo apt update sudo update pciids sudo apt install firmware-b43-install sudo reboot sudo apt install bcmwl-kernel-source # corresponds to my PCI id 14e4:4365 (rev 01) sudo rfkill unblock all # for good measure to no avail. Note that at sudo apt install bcmwl-kernel-source a dialogue window asks permission to disable Secure Boot by typing an ad hoc password. It claims it will be asked later, although I did not see it being asked again. Interestingly, from this bounty-winning answer, I could see with lspci -nn| grep -i BCM that my network controller is a BCM43142 that might not be supported by the STA driver. This is way too esoteric for me, but it may provide a clue to the expert. I am also aware of other posts that deal with earlier Ubuntu versions, but I would dearly avoid guesswork and find an answer that applies to 16.04 safely. Question Please could you provide a list of simple steps to regain the possibility to enable the wifi from the menu bar? If you need to refer to verbose posts, please indicate which answer is applicable according to you and in which way it integrates the actions undertaken above. In my experience the problem comes up for either of two reasons, or both: • secure boot in the boot set-up utility is enabled. It should be disabled instead. Thanks to user Pilot6 for pointing this out in the comments above. • a new kernel does not cope well with the network and wi-fi settings. In my case the solution 1 works with kernel 3.19.0-77-generic or 4.4.0-45-generic, but not with the later 4.4.0-53-generic. To splash into an older reliable kernel, at boot time I go into the 'Advanced Ubuntu Options' of the boot loader rather than using the standard 'Ubuntu'. I am presented with this choice at restart since I have a dual boot system: if you don't, you can press the shift key at boot time to have this choice presented to you. See for a way to select an earlier kernel version as boot-time default automatically, using Grub Customizer. To know which kernel the system is running on type uname -r in the command line (the output is a subset of uname -a). This problem occurred with both Ubuntu 14.04 and 16.04. I then presume that the release specification is immaterial. Nintendo NES ROMs Manufacturer: Nintendo| System: NES Welcome to the Nintendo NES ROMs section of the ROM Database. In 'Questa Storia' Baricco is a very clever applicator of techniques, styles and registers of language (his Italian is very smooth and rather easy to understand to foreigners with a basic knowledge of the language), and he brings us a story that tells us something about how people cope with reality. Especially the short passage in which the feeble-minded half brother of the main character is speaking, is a stylistic gem; and also the evocation of the chaotic retreat of the Italian troops in the first world war (after the battle of Caporetto) can be classified among the better works about horrors of war. Several times Baricco puts us on the wrong leg, and only gradually it becomes clear what the red line is in this story. I'm not going to say more about that than that it's about the crazy goal in life of a young Italian guy, a goal that has to do with his personal way to bring order into the chaos of existence. Baricco also succeeds in bringing beautiful personal portraits of his characters and the delicate interaction between them. Finally the whole novel is pervaded by a refined melancholic haze, which made me think of 'The Great Gatsby' by Scott Fitzgerald, because also that book is about (un)fulfilled dreams (and about fast cars!). Day of the Dead is actually divided into two distinct holidays, the first being Dide los Inocentes, which is dedicated to children on Nov. 1, and Dide los Muertos on Nov. 2, which is the actual Day of the Dead. Both days taken together are collectively referred to as the Day of the Dead, and celebrations can begin as early as Halloween (Oct. In recent years, the tradition has spread into North America, particularly into communities with large Mexican and Latin American populations. The holiday blends with celebrations across several nations and cultures and draws upon traditions found in other cultures, however the holiday is largely a Mexican development. Families often come together over this period and preparations can be made during the entire year leading up to the Day of the Dead. This is a solemn occasion, with few actual festivities. Instead, people visit and repair graves of their dearly departed. It is common to light candles, leave offerings of prepared foods, often a favorite meal, and to pray and play music. Private altars are built as focal points for small, private religious observances. Small parties, or wakes, can be held in conjunction with the holidays. Celebrations can sometimes take a humorous tone, particularly if the deceased relative was known to enjoy humor. Poems can be read and public morality plays are sometimes performed. Parents of deceased children commonly leave offerings of toys on the Day of the Innocents. Small offerings of alcohol are sometimes left for adults. It is easy to see why these celebrations can be heartbreaking, even to outsiders. The skull is a common symbol of the holiday and it is common for women to paint all or one-half of their face with a skull. The half-skull painted on the face, particularly of a youthful woman, represents the brief transition between life and death. The holiday itself has multiple traditional origins, chiefly Catholic. Catholics believe that the deceased do not always enter directly into heaven or hell upon their death, but instead may enter into purgatory, a sort of holding space, where they are cleansed of their sins before they can enter heaven. People who die in a state of mortal sin go directly to hell, by virtue of their choice, while those who die without sin may go directly to heaven. Purgatory is for those who have died in a state of sin, but not mortal sin. These people must wait in purgatory until they are cleansed of their sins by the prayers of the faithful on Earth. Day of the Dead is an occasion to offer those prayers. This is largely redundant with the Catholic holy day of All Souls. Day of the Dead is an occasion to pray for these departed people in purgatory. Many Mexicans also trace their celebrations back to ancient Mesoamerican cultures. The Aztec, in particular, would celebrate their dead for the entire month of August. Families may carry on celebrations throughout the year, long after Day of the Dead has ended. It is common for families to maintain small, private altars at home and they may create makeshift shrines dedicated to their dearly departed. Pictures, candles and flowers commonly adorn these shrines. Even public schools participate with altars being prepared at schools and the children decorating them with mementoes of the dearly departed and decorations. Small alters can even be found in government offices across Mexico. The holiday is seen both as a religious devotion and a source of national pride. It has spread into other countries, like the United States, partly as an expression of Mexican heritage. In the United States, schools and colleges will often have small festivals, centered on Mexican culture and arts. In some parts of the country (especially the cities, where in recent years there are displaced other customs), children in costumes roam the streets, knocking on people's doors for a calaverita, a small gift of candies or money; they also ask passersby for it. This custom is similar to that of Halloween's trick-or-treating and is relatively recent. Some people believe that possessing Day of the Dead items can bring good luck. Many people get tattoos or have dolls of the dead to carry with them. They also clean their houses and prepare the favorite dishes of their deceased loved ones to place upon their altar or ofrenda. He programmed the Gabber kicks on Civilization Extermination and Wasting Away, the bit crushed intro to Seeing Is Destroying, all of the bit crushed, mangled programing in Levels and made several useful suggestions in terms of final mixes and song order. The A side is good, but the B side, Rocks and Caves, is even better, with a quick pace, echoing vocal cries that sound like they were indeed recorded among the rocks and caves, and synthetic percussion overload at times. This one is sure to be on at least a couple wantlists. Artist Name: Lives of Angels Genre: Post Punk / Cold Wave Background Information: Lives of Angels was formed in the 1980s and released one album (Elevator To Eden) on an indie label (Fire) that has subsequently become a minor cult classic in certain circles. Members Gerald and Catherine O’Connell had previously been members of Mystery Plane. Musically inactive throughout the 90s, Gerald started recording again in 2001. In 2009, after a 25-year hiatus, Gerald renewed his connection with Mark Harvey of Mystery Plane, resuscitating the extensive Mystery Plane archive and working on new projects. The new Lives of Angels material combines the band’s 80s approach with an emergent emphasis on electronic and ambient influences. This had always (along with 60s Psychedelia and 70s Krautrock) been a background interest, but the advent of computer technology has made it easier to incorporate into Lives of Angels’ 21st century work. Its stars Rory Calhoun and Nancy Parsons as proprieters of a cheap rural motel somewhere in Appalachia (I think). They have a little gift shop in the motel and that is where they sell thier famous sausages. The shocker is that the sausages are made from (spoiler) human flesh. There is an amazing scene in the movie where a touring band decides to stay the night at Motel Hell. As they are driving down the highway, we see them rocking out in the back of thier scuzzy 70’s Ford Econoline. It’s totally ludicrous. The song they are playing is called something like “I’m sick of you” and it is definitely punk rock. But the band looks like a bunch Russ Tamblyn Satan’s Sadist wannabes. Total bikers. And this was my first introduction to the mysterious world of biker punk. I know what you’re thinkingbiker punk? Surely Joe Stumble, you are joking. Punk rock is an urban phenomenon and it shuns blues conventions. Bikers prefer the allure of wide-open spaces and the choogle of vintage boogie-rock. So biker-punk is a contradiction. See the one thing that the punk and biker subcultures of the 1970’s shared was a mutual penchant for nihilism. Rememberthe bikers at Altamont were just as responsible for ending the 1960’s dream as The Stooges. So your average biker rock band dug punk from a totally misanthropic perspective. There were no political opuses from biker-punk bands. There were no positive vibes to be had. They wouldn’t have called your idealistic yearnings and your heart on your sleeve melodrama “emo”. They would just call you a pussy. You woulda been thier “punk” in the classical sense. Insteadbiker punk songs were about rape, incest, murder and torture with a double-dose of misogyny thrown in. All set, of course, to 3 chord sub-standard riffage with just a hint of chooglin’ boogie woogie grease. Upload Information: Eat Hot Lead (1980) The pinnacle of the biker punk subgenre was the 1980 classic Eat Hot Lead by Puke Spit and Guts, whose photos adorn this post. Look at these ****ers! Pure Hate were from Holland and released only this one EP, titled We've Got The Right To Remain Silent, But., during their brief run. Upload Information: Various Artists - Teenage Twins OST Genre: Funk Upload Description: A little bit of pr0n history for you. Back in the days before being able to access extreme German BDSM pr0n in the privacy of your own home at the click of a button, the only way to see X rated features for the larger part of the 1970's was to venture into scummy urban districts such as the infamous 42nd Street in New York hoping you didn't get mugged. Upon venturing into an adult theater with a bunch of other lowlifes hopped up on crack, causing violence and offering blowjobs for money (or for free) in the aisles, you would see films like Teenage Twins on the bill. This film is notable for being the first pr0nographic film to feature real life incest as stars Brooke Young and Taylor Young get it on, not only with each other but also with their mother and step father as some ridiculous subplot about the Necronomicon unfolds. Teenage Twins is a somewhat typical example of what has been lost in a lot of modern pr0n, depravity, and films by such prized sleazebag auteurs as Phil Prince (Dr Bizarro, The Taming of Rebecca) and Zebedy Colt (The Farmers Daughters) would be testament to the fact that the 70's was a very disturbed sexual landscape. Just imagine watching this stuff in a theater. The soundtrack to Teenage Twins is some excellent funk music from composers Alan Hawkshaw, John Fiddy, Duncan Lamont, Steve Grey and Brian Bennett, all who have gone on to other forgotten projects since mainly in the realms of library music. It captures the swinging feel of the era well, and is perhaps the one tasteful saving grace of this truly awful film. Since 1978, besides multiple participations in international projects, about thirty albums, many video clips & films and two art books allow to appreciate their particular universe: industrial and organic electronic, tortured neo-classic and experimental constructions to more accessible compositions (based on rhythms, cuts, sampling, treated voices and sequences). Artist Name: Severed Heads Genre: Electronic/Industrial Country of Origin: Australia Background Information: An Australian electronic group formed in Sydney, Australia in 1979, Severed Heads have released albums ranging from experimental industrial noise to synthpop influenced dance music. The original members were Richard Fielding and Andrew Wright, and were soon joined by Tom Ellard. This later changed to Garry Bradbury, Paul Deering, and Tom Ellard; Ellard has been the only one to remain throughout the group’s career, with changing lineups throughout its two and a half decades of existence, later working mainly with Stephen Jones. Robert Racic was an integral part of the band during the late eighties/early nineties. In early 2008, Ellard added the text, “Severed Heads do not have a MySpace page. It is a fake. Artist Name: A Certain Ratio Genre: Post Punk Country of Origin: UK Background Information: A Certain Ratio are a Post-punk band formed in 1977 in Manchester, England. While originally part of the punk rock movement, they soon added funk and dance elements to their sound. They are sometimes referred to as 'post punk funk'. The band's name is taken from the lyrics of Brian Eno's song 'The True Wheel' (from the album Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy)). The group's longest serving original members are been Martin Moscrop (guitar, trumpet) and Jeremy Kerr (bass, vocals). Another current member, Donald Johnson (drums, vocals), joined after the first drummerless single. Two of ther original members have left the band - Simon Topping (left in 1983 for Quando Quango and, later, T-Coy), plus guitarist Peter Terrell, who left in 1982. Artist Name: Lucifer Genre: Electronic Country of Origin: Canada Background Information: Mort Garson (born on 20 July 1924 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, passing away Jan 16th 2008 at age 83) was a prolific mid 20th century easy listening & pop composer and later an early electronic synthesizer pioneer. Early on Garson studied music at Juilliard and worked as a pianist and arranger before getting pulled into the Army near the end of World War Two. He could carry out any or all of the musical chores on any given session: composer, arranger, orchestrator, conductor, and even pianist if that was required. He conducted the “Love Strings” on Liberty Records, arranged for The Lettermen on Capitol Records, provided background to Laurence Harvey reading poetry on Atlantic Records, accompanied Doris Day on Columbia and experimented with the Moog synthesizer on A&M Records, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. With lyricist Bob Hilliard, he wrote one of the great lounge hits of the 1960s, “Our Day Will Come,” a hit for Ruby and The Romantics and more recently covered by k.d. Lang and Take 6 for the soundtrack of the movie Shag. Garson spent the mid-1960s on a rapid succession of accompaniment jobs: two Doris Day albums (Sentimental Journey and Songs for Latin Lovers), Mel Torme’s great Right Now! Album of contemporary covers like “Secret Agent Man,” Glenn Yarborough’s highly successful cover of Rod McKuen songs, The Lonely Things, and Glen Campbell’s even more successful “By the Time I Get to Phoenix. Upload Information: Black Mass (1971) Because really, what says Satan like fuzzy proto-prog psychedelia and a huge slab of Moog? Seriously, though, Black Mass Lucifer is an album well ahead of its time. What could well have been a bizarre failed experiment in sound and theme - creepy synth! Noodly Moog solos galore! - stands the test of time as a genuinely eerie slab of the past. All the songs are around three minutes long and flow into one another in interesting ways; the overall effect is that the album is a soundtrack to an undiscovered, trippy horror film. This is a vinyl rip, so there are occasional crackles in the sound. I recommend taking a listen in a dim room with your favorite psychedelics at hand. Or not, if you're easily freaked out. Name: Zelda Reorchestrated Discography: Almost all music from every Zelda game Background Information: Zelda Reorchestrated was formed in 2004 with the goal to transcribe the musical masterpieces that make up the greatest video game series ever created: The Legend of Zelda! Their goal is to give each and every song from The Legend of Zelda series a realistic and atmospheric sound with the quality that would be expected from such film composers as John Williams, Howard Shore, and James Horner. The Zelda Reorchestrated team uses high-end sequencer synthesizers to transcribe the tracks. From there, the MIDI’s created by the musical team are sent through sound libraries, where the computerized sounds are transformed into very realistic and believable orchestrated masterpieces. Not claiming ambitions of profit or fame, the ZREO Team produces music freely available on their website. The project, in their words, is “merely our own form of artistic expression that stems from The Legend of Zelda. If it weren’t for Zelda, ZREO wouldn’t exist. So we are grateful to have such a legendary video game series that can pull so much inspiration out of us.” Zelda Reorchestrated started with FireGS. His musical ability, inspiration from Zelda, and soulful determination allowed him to give birth to ZREO. From there, everything has just accumulated. Like a snowball rolling down a snowy mountain, ZREO grabbed the attention, and touched the hearts of the Zelda community. It was clear that ZREO was a project never seen before. Artist Name: Chumbawamba Genre: Anarcho Punk Country of Origin: Britain Background Information Chumbawamba are a British band. Over a 27-year career, the band plays music ranging from anarcho-punk, pop-influenced dance music, a cappella/choral music and world music to acoustic folk music. The band are best known for their song 'Tubthumping' (also known as 'I Get Knocked Down'), but also for 'Amnesia', 'Enough is Enough' (with MC Fusion), 'Timebomb', 'Top of the World (Ole, Ole, Ole)', and most recently, 'Add Me'. They have taken influence from anarchist politics and exhibit an irreverent attitude toward authority, touching on issues such as domestic violence, religion, racism, fascism, war, homosexuality, information technology, pop culture, pornography, resistance, working class rights, and consumerism. Upload Information Never Mind The Ballots (1987) Never Mind the Ballots (occasionally called Never Mind the Ballots. Here's The Rest of Your Life by fans and distributors, further expanding the pun upon which the name is based; also Never Mind the Ballots.) is an album by Anarchist punk band Chumbawamba. Most of the songs centre around lying politicians and their search for more voter control. The lyrics to all the songs are direct, largely undisguised political commentary describing at the same time the futility of democracy in general and the political situation of the three major parties in Britain at the time of recording. This piece, like the band's earlier album, Pictures of Starving Children Sell Records, is all based on a single theme, rather than confronting a range of themes, issues and ideas as was typical of their later albums. In terms of style, lyrical content and political focus, it was a follow up to the earlier album and is more similar to it than any subsequent work by the band. Artist Name: Acid Horse Genre: Industrial Country of Origin: USA Upload Information Acid Horse is a collaboration between Al Jourgensen, Chris Connelly and Bill Rieflin of Ministry and Stephen Mallinder and Richard H. Kirk of Cabaret Voltaire, all operating under pseudonyms. The project resulted in a sole 12' single, No Name, No Slogan which was released through Wax Trax! Records in 1989. It features two mixes of the same track, both centered on something of a fusion of synth pop, EBM and rock influences with the Jourgensen mix sounding a little more modern with its pulsing beat whilst Cabaret Voltaire brings something to the table that is more akin to classic late 70's industrial with its analogue drum machines and samples. No Name, No Slogan (1989) http://www.mediafire.com/?om5tyzyinzy. Artist Name: Die Warzau Genre: Industrial/EBM/New Wave Country of Origin: USA Artist Information Formed in 1987 by performance artists Jim Marcus and Van Christie, Die Warzau (originally referred to as Die Warzau Synfony) has operated on the fringes of industrial music, creating a unique sound. An everpresent and important part of Die Warzau’s appeal is the sociopolitical lyricism and emotive vocals of Jim Marcus. Originally signed to Chris Parry’s Fiction Records, the band released Disco Rigido in the late 1980s (distributed in the United States by Atlantic Records), which featured “Welcome To America”, “Land of the Free” and “I’ve Got To Make Sense”. Though the album falls solidly into the EBM genre, it contains hints of the experimentation and genre-bending that later recordings would feature (e.g. “Y Tagata en Situ”). A second album, Big Electric Metal Bass Face, built on the foundation laid with Disco Rigido and upped the ante with excursions into funk (listen to “Funkopolis” as well as the live take of “Coming Down”). Contributors to the band at the time included Chris Vrenna and James Woolley, who both served time in Nine Inch Nails during the mid-Nineties. Engine, a 1995 release on WaxTrax!, was a huge jump forward and found critical acclaim for its decimation of genre boundaries. Die Warzau could no longer be simply pigeonholed into the “industrial” category, as their music became more organic, rounder on the edges yet still retaining their trademark knack for insistent rhythm and pure, unrefined electronic noise. “Liberated” and “All Good Girls” became trademark songs for the group. Fellow WaxTrax! Act Sister Machine Gun “inherited” an unused song from this period (“Hole In the Ground”), which they included on their Burn album. Upload Information Disco Rigido (1989) A fantastic EBM record from the late 80's, in a similar vein to A Split-Second's From The Inside with an unconventional approach at flirting with a unique brand of New Wave just as the genre was on its way out of the mainsteam and stuff like hip-hop was furthering its way in. As a result, Disco Rigido is fairly unusual, but one of the better under the radar 80's industrial albums i've come across. Springing from the fertile loins of the prestigious Black Box Studios of San Diego they have defied and exceeded the expectations of the math rock genre the wider world puts them in. With elements of post-hardcore and indie rock/pop they have delighted their fans and critics. Influenced by bands like No Knife, Q and Not U, Radiohead, and Refused, Fever Sleeves has combined angular guitars, off-beat rhythms, spastic drumming, and floating vocal melodies to create a truly distinctive and original sound. Conceived in 2004 by founding members vocalist/bassist/guitarist Tony Gidlund, drummer Bill Szafranski, and guitarist Nick Lorentz, they didn’t burst into the larger musical consciousness until the 2008 release of their first single “Futuristic Killings”. The EP was quickly followed by the release of their first full album, “Soft Pipes, Play On” in early 2009, which was met with empowering reviews. Since the release of the album, Fever Sleeves had been searching for a full-time bassist to complete their desired sound, and in July of 2009 found him in the form of Lain Weck, a San Diego transplant from Chicago. With the addition of Weck the sound of the band has matured and become more dynamic in both songwriting and performances. Fever Sleeves has demonstrated a passion and ferocity for their brand of musical creativity that has defined their sound and presence. We broke up last Summer when one of our guitarists went into the Navy after uni as an officer and our drummer got extremely busy playing jazz gigs with two trios and writing for school. The rest of us still have close to two years before we graduate and started a new band with two other friends that sounds nothing like this. Upload information: Bit rate - 320 kbps Upload: nice name.
